We decided to kick off the new year with a pair of brand new quality standard certifications, the IATF 16949 and AS91001!

The IATF 16949 is one of the automotive industry’s most widely used international standards for quality management while the AS9100 is the equivalent for aerospace manufacturing. Both standards are built on ISO9001:2015 standards and companies must go through exhaustive training and demonstrate full compliance to be certified.

The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 quality standards are the latest version of what was previously referred to as the ISO/TS 16949. These standards provide a comprehensive quality for companies  developing and manufacturing automotive components. The latest iteration of these guidelines was released in 2016 and expand on several areas of quality control including:

  • Supply chain risk management
  • Elimination of production inefficiencies
  • Evidence-based decision making

Boomer Qureshi, our quality manager, had to go through rigorous training as part of our certification and understands the benefits of the system better than anyone:

Having that standard here really does two things; it provides us with a mechanism for continually improving our business to provide quality products on time and it shows our customers and other interested parties the commitment we have to providing good quality products and services.

Of course, being compliant with IATF 16949 and AS91001 means more than just a few new international stamps of approval; it means higher productivity, less waste and an increased ability to meet Just-In-Time production schedules for our clients. Our compliance with international standards also means that we can integrate seamlessly into a client’s current supply chain. Our new certifications are just one more way that we’re constantly improving for our clients.
